"I may not be where I want to be but I'm thankful for not being where I used to be."

~ Habeeb Akande

This quote came across my Instagram feed this morning. I had plans to write on a different topic today until I read this. You may have heard don't look back throughout your life. But the truth is, you need to reflect back on your journey so you can remember on the tough days why you are where you are at this very moment.

I have had a lot of days recently were I have doubted myself, what I am doing, why I made some of the decisions I have over the past few years. But this quote today, was the reminder I needed that I may not be where I want to be, but I know I have learned and grown. I know I am a better person, in a better place. I know I am more accepting of myself, of others. I know I am smart, kind and can do anything I set my mind too. I know I am not done pushing myself, boundaries, life. I know I am on a journey and I am heading in the right direction.

All of us have our own journey. It is as unique to us as our DNA. The paths of our journey will not always go the right direction. There will be times where we will hit a dead end and need to go backwards (the path of forgiveness). There are times we will take a right and should have gone left (the path to learning). There are times we will hit bad weather (the path of growth). We will also enjoy the path of least resistance (the easy button). But no matter what path we are on, we have the control over how we maneuver the obstacles, how we choose to move forward.

Will our paths be perfect, no. We will make mistakes, we will screw up. But in pain their is beauty. Our individual journeys will shape and mold each of us. So on those days where you feel defeated, broken, angry, take a look back and remember where you came from, where you have been and remember your journey is not complete.
